A look back....Remembering Josh's hair!!!

Aug. 2, 2003
Joshua with hair

Josh is out of town this week on a hunting trip. I think it is safe to say I am really missing him. His birthday was yesterday and he was not here to celebrate it with us, he was not even in cell phone range! We left him a fun message of all of us singing "happy birthday", although Alexa just said "papa" over and over again. I thought I would take advantage of him being out of town (so he can not object) and do a blog about him! I came across these pictures of the crazy day, 4 years ago, when we said goodbye to Josh's hair! The above is the before picture :) Keep in mind I was having contractions and about to go to the hospital to have Tess! I will never forget the day he shaved his head....the day before Tess was born (Aug 2nd!) I still joke that him shaving his head was what made me go into labor, even though I kinda started before he shaved his head!! He does not argue that point with me though!
It is too late to turn back!! I was so scared at this point. We had family pictures with all of my family from Utah in 4 weeks. All I could think of was how bad the family picture was going to look! Josh had wanted to shave his head for a long time and never dared. Max our neighbor and church mate had just shaved his head.....Josh had to jump on the bandwagon! I think there were 4 guys in our church ward that ended up shaving there head and Josh is the only one who is still bald. I like him with no hair and hope he never goes back to hair. I was so scared for nothing. Can you tell Josh is so excited about shaving his head in this picture?

This was the last picture I took of the whole haircut. Why I did not get the "after picture" I can not remember......oh ya my contractions were insane!!! We thought we had to rush off to the hospital only to have the contractions die down for three hours. Three hours later I went back into a slow labor and had Tess the next day around noon. It makes a fun labor story and is fun to remember back to him shaving his head for the first time. I think he had chickened out a few times before he actually went through with it. I don't think of Josh ever having hair again and neither does he. Alexa still has a hard time figuring out that other bald guys are not papa!

I think going bald has actually made Josh look younger--or at least his age. Good thing he is not around to see this post. Since he's not around, maybe this is a good time to do a blog on your "5."

I love it. I totally remember it, since I was there. I was totally dying right along with you. Good work Josh! I like him bald much better.

I love what Josh, Brent, and Bruce Willis have done to change the image of bald. I think it's hot and tough and definitely sexy. There are men out there who are still in denial about being bald. They have the whole comb-over or the thick sides--and I just want them to know how much better they'd look--bald. Let's embrace baldness. Thanks Josh!
